Good luck to all EQE 2021 candidates!

We wish all candidates that sit one or more EQE papers next week good luck / bonne chance / gute Fahrt!

Our EQE blogs will be open for your comments and opinions w.r.t. the Pre-ExamABand shortly after the exams. We will post our (provisional) answers to the various papers shortly after the exam. To facilitate the discussions, we will also post copies of the papers as soon as possible after we received reasonably clean copies.

Do not post any comments as to the merits of the answers of a certain exam paper/flow on the blogs while an exam/flow is still ongoing. Also, do not post the invigilator password or anything else that may be considered the breach of the exam regulations, instructions to the candidates, code of conducts, etc (see, e.g.,  e-EQE website and the emails from the EQE secretariat).

All candidates, as well as tutors who helped candidates prepare for EQE 2021, are invited to contribute to the discussions on our EQE blogs! You can post your comments in English, French or German. You are invited to post your comments under your real name, but it is also possible to use a nickname if you wish to hide your identify.

  2. Thanks DP!
I feel like this year's eEQE is like launching a new space probe... before the lift off, so many system checks needed !!

  3. Hello everyone, do they announce the results of Pre Exam the day after usually? And is there a way to see our given answers. It has been told that they should be saved in our locak disk but I can not find. Thank you!

    1. Yes and it seems that all candidates had this problem. You can also read the article on ipkat describing this situation.

    2. Yes. Probably there is some record of me venting out my frustration, using blasphemous utterance (the F word...) for not being able to find the EN version... until I realized I was not the only one...

  5. Yes! Took me half an hour to acces the englush version. Left the computer after 15 minutes and collected a german wordbook, will I be penalized for that? Bad decision probably, was back in less than a minute. /Linda

  7. The EPO gave a free-pass to the pre-exam candidates last year. So my bet is they will give another free-pass for all candidates sitting for the D1-1 part due to the unforseen technical difficulties! Fingers crossed!

    1. I don't think so. It seems to be late for reclamation in front of the EQE secretary department (30 min after the end of the exam (Is it on friday???)). Wait for a decision? And according to art. 19, it seems to be possible to file an appeal (tax = 600% of the basis amount!!!). Wait and see

    2. A free pass to be let sit the main exam is nothing even remotely comparable with a free pass in a fitness-to-practise exam, sorry! Potentially a few compensatory marks, but this can only be assessed once the raw grades are all in, normalised and the Board can somehow identify and assess the impact of the issue.

  8. For D-II, question 3, Was late entry to European phase (subject to further processing request and extra fees plus fulfillment of Rule T59(1) EPC) worth mentioning? Or did I waste my time?

    1. I also answered q3 of d ii with late entry to the European phase. Hp-pct then becomes Art. 54(3) prior art against w-ep and the client can get a patent on s+o+c, that hinders the competitor from realizing their product.

    2. Exactly. Good to know I didn't wander off track...

  10. The written exam's results always came out by the end of June. Will this year's results come out sooner, since they do not need to photocopy everything and send papers everywhere, and since they do not need to struggle with reading everyone's handwriting, or will the answers come later because they have more candidates this year due to allowing the 2020 pre-eqe candidates take the main exam alongside all of the 2020 candidates?

    1. We will need to wait to know the answer. Which is stronger: the easier marking of a typed answer compared to a written answer, or the probably more than double the amount of answers papers? And it is not just the marking, it is also the review/approval by the Examination Board and the Supervisory Board, and... how they deal with the D1-1 false start and the strange B...

I GUESS they aim to have it all out before the summer holidays, in June or early July.

    2. and lets not forget the overly long C paper - when compared to other years. Will be interesting to see when they publish, not that I am in an hurry this year all things considered with the papers they gave us.
