Instructions to Candidates - a must-read!
Today it’s less than two weeks until the start of the EQE2025! Now is a good moment to (re-)read the Instructions to Candidates and the Code of Conduct for Candidates. You can find both at the EQE-space of the EPO-website (https://www.epo.org/en/learning/eqe-epac/european-qualifying-examination-eqe).
In particular the Instructions to Candidates contain detailed information that you need to know when sitting the EQE. For example, did you know that it explicitly specifies the keyboard shortcuts that you can use? These are only (!) Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Shift+V, Ctrl+F (and corresponding Mac shortcuts). Also, it mentions that you are not allowed to wear headphones and that you cannot listen to or play any music or sounds – and also don’t read a part of the exam paper aloud!
All these nitty-gritty details (and a lot more of those) can make or break your EQE – so being familiar with the Instructions to Candidates and the Code of Conduct for Candidates is as relevant as knowing your legal stuff, being able to draft a proper claim, amend claims without violating Art. 123(2) EPC and writing a convincing inventive step attack. Make sure to check them out!
How long time in advance will the flows be visible for enrolled participants in Wiseflow? Have anyone been able to see the flow for paper B yet?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how the Compensation system work in the old system.
ReplyDeleteCan you compensate more than one paper above 45? I understand Rule 6, point 4, that you can have two Compensable fails, as long as you have two Pass exams, no Fail exam, and that your total of points is above 200. So two Compensable fails is OK, but no more.
And also, can you use Compensable fails as equivalents for the new form? I would read that no, but who knows...
Obviously, those are questions arising after the B exam...

Indeed, in the current (“old”) EQE system you can have 2 compensable fails. In the new system, there is no compensation system, you have to pass all papers. And for papers that have separate parts, you have to pass each part separately.
DeleteWith respect to the transition provisions: you are only exempted from taking papers in the new EQE if you got a pass in the old system. Compensable fail is not enough.

ReplyDeleteI carried out the exam of paper C on day 20/07/2025. I had important problems with the connexion in the first part C1. I could print without problem the document C1_2025_print_EN.pdf.
But after, when the probe started, I could not watch the claims 1, 2 and 3 of the exam in the right part of the screen in assignment, and also it appeared a message of error in this part of the screen.
I tried solve this problem in the chat, and they advise me exit out the probe pressing the cross indication at top right in the screen.
I was afraid if I did this I could not enter again. I did this I could enter again, and then I could watch the claims correctly in the right part of the screen and to continue the exam.
I could submit my result and I have comprobed in WISSEFLOW that it seems correctly recorded and filed.
But this problem involved many time lost for me and of course it affected very negatively in my prove. Please, how may I request to be considered this problem I had in the correction the C1 exam?
Also, the day after of the Exam, 21/07/2025, I sent a e-mail at address: eqe-certification@epo.org, explaining all of this problem and requesting to be considered this problem I had in the correction the C1 exam.
But this is not all.
At the second part C2 all seemed well. However, just at the end the time of the C2 exam, to try send the prove, it appeared other error on the screen. I does not understand what was the problem in this other case. I could not change this image on the screen.
I tried solve this in the chat but I could not obtain answer.
Finally I phoned at number +49 89 23995155 and indicating me to refresh the screen. Finally, I could send my prove. I have verified in WISSEFLOW and apparently, the two proves C1 and C2 are successfully filed.
The day after of the Exam, 21/07/2025, I sent a e-mail at address: eqe-certification@epo.org, explaining all of these problems and situations, and attaching a photograph of the screen.
Please, I request advise about my situation and what may I do to be considered in the correction of the Exam these problems I had.
